CODE COMPLIANCE
Many times, in addition to determining that a product meets
applicable industry standards, eti
Conformity Services is called upon to determine that the installation was done
properly. A code compliance inspection may also be required of a
product applied outside its original listing.
This type of inspection
adheres
to
the National
Electrical Code and applicable local code requirements. eti
Conformity Services engineers
know the intricacies of the NEC and local provisions.
For many customers, this step is often
required by electrical inspectors prior to approval for operation.
We understand that scheduling is critical and we make every effort
to respond quickly with comprehensive test
reports. Our experienced compliance engineers make your
job a priority so that you can begin operations as quickly as
possible. NRTL
LISTING & LABELING
For many years, UL was the only company authorized to test
equipment prior to sale in the U.S.
However several years ago,
OSHA began a rigorous process of certifying qualified laboratories
to perform these tests and established the title: Nationally
Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL).
In 1995, eti
Conformity Services
was certified by OSHA as an NRTL and is qualified to test
specific equipment and materials ("products") to meet
consensus-based standards of safety to provide the assurance that
these products are safe for use in the U.S. workplace.
NRTL listing and labeling evaluations are performed on a
prototype prior to mass production and factory follow-up visits
are performed on production units.
eti Conformity Services
examines and tests enclosures, breakers, wiring, barriers and
interlocks of your equipment. We look at construction and
performance criteria. In short, we go through every component and
confirm the presence of appropriate
protective devices.
FIELD
EVALUATION
For electrical equipment that is unique or produced in limited
quantities, eti Conformity Services
performs field
evaluations after the equipment has been installed but prior to
going into service. This testing is regulated at local levels,
commonly by city, state or county inspectors.
Our compliance engineers perform non-destructive testing for
compliance with specific equipment standards (such as UL). We
inspect for grounding, damaged components, electrical clearances,
guarding of live parts, wiring methods and ratings. We also review
equipment drawings, nameplate information, suitability of the
installation and environmental issues.
CE
MARKING
The European Union (EU) utilizes mandatory harmonized standards in
key product sectors. Most of the electrical standards are
equivalent to the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC)
standards.
Through a network of European laboratory
alliances and mutual recognition agreements, eti
Conformity Services
provides third party laboratory testing and facilitates the
compliance process.

SEMI
S2,
S8
and
S9
Although SEMI S2 and S8 are guidelines rather than standards, they
are widely accepted as a performance-based approach to safety of
semiconductor manufacturing process equipment. eti
Conformity Services
performs all of the tests required by SEMI S2 and S8 with the goal
of improving safety and enhancing reliability.
