EMF /
RFI
Interference from electromagnetic fields (EMF) has become more
prevalent in recent years with the increasing use of electronic
equipment. EMF causes low-frequency errors in medical equipment,
computers, networks and electron beam devices.
Radio Frequency Interference (RFI)
creates very high frequency (VHF) and ultra high frequency (UHF) fields.
These fields react very differently than the low frequency magnetic fields
produced by electrical equipment and power circuits. There are many
consultants with the ability to mitigate these fields, however,
application of typical high-frequency solutions to low frequency fields
will yield unreliable results.
eti
Conformity Services' specially-trained
engineers and technicians use sensitive equipment to measure the intensity
of magnetic fields. In some cases, correcting common wiring problems can
restore proper equipment operation and reduce stray currents. In other
cases, it may be necessary to install a multi-layered shield to protect
the area where sensitive equipment must be located.
The ideal time to consider the
effects of power frequency magnetic fields on sensitive electronic
equipment is during the building design or remodel stage. A short
consultation with an experienced EMF engineer before or during remodeling
can be the quickest and most cost-effective method to avoid interference
problems.
